Handmade Furniture from Our Billingham Workshop

There’s something special about knowing that a piece of furniture was made by hand, right here in Billingham.

After five years at our workshop on Skinner Street in Stockton-on-Tees, we’ve moved to our new home at 8 Lagonda Court, Billingham.

It’s another big step for AB Woodworking. What started in a garden shed back in 2016 has grown into a family-run woodworking business making rustic handmade furniture, shelves, mantels and bespoke pieces for customers across Teesside and England.

Our new workshop is not much bigger than our old one. What makes it better for us is the location. We now have better parking and easier access for larger vehicles, which makes moving and delivering larger furniture much easier.

From a Garden Shed to Billingham

AB Woodworking started in 2016 after Andrew had an injury at work and needed some time off.

During this time, he started thinking about what he really wanted to do. He had been interested in woodworking for a while, so he decided to give it a try.

The first workshop was the garden shed.

With just a few tools, Andrew started making things like cutting boards and wooden ornaments. It was a small start, but the business slowly began to grow.

A few years later, we moved into the Stockton Business Centre.

As things continued to grow, we moved again to our workshop on Skinner Street in Stockton-on-Tees.

It was at Skinner Street that Andrew was joined by his son, Lewis. Together, we continued to grow the business and began making more furniture and larger projects.

After five years on Skinner Street, it was time for another move.

This time, to Billingham.

Our New Workshop in Billingham

Our new workshop is at 8 Lagonda Court, Billingham.

The workshop itself is not much bigger than our old one. The main benefit is the location.

Being in a more industrial area gives us:

• Better parking
• Easier access for larger vehicles
• More space around the workshop for loading
• Easier collection and delivery of furniture

This is especially useful when we're working on large dining tables, bespoke furniture and live edge pieces.

Large furniture can be difficult to move. A 2-metre dining table isn't exactly something you can throw in the back of a small van!

The better access at our new workshop makes loading and transporting these larger pieces much easier.

It also means we're in a better position to deliver larger furniture to customers across England.

What Do We Make?

We make a range of handmade wooden furniture from our Billingham workshop.

Handmade Dining Tables

Dining tables are one of the main things we make.

Our rustic wooden dining tables are available in different sizes and styles. We use natural timber and can offer different leg styles, including wooden and handmade steel legs.

Some of our tables can also be made with matching benches.

Because we make the tables ourselves, we can talk to you about the size and style that will work best in your home.

Wooden Shelves

We make pine and oak shelves, including floating shelves and bracketed shelves.

They're a simple way to add storage and natural wood to your home.

Our shelves can be used in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, hallways, offices and more.

Fireplace Mantels

We also make pine and oak fireplace mantels.

A wooden mantel can turn a plain fireplace into a real feature in a room.

Our pine mantels have a warm, rustic look, while oak has a strong natural grain and a more solid feel.

Bespoke Furniture

Not every project fits into one of our normal product ranges.

That's where bespoke furniture comes in.

If you've got an idea for a piece of furniture, we'd be happy to talk about it.

You don't need a full design. A few measurements, some photos or even just an idea can be enough to get started.

Our new workshop puts us in a good location for serving customers across Teesside.
